Her pest control technician told the customer she had mold/fungus growth in the crawl space. The customer was also experiencing sagging floors in areas of her home.
Upon the initial inspection, the specialist noted much fungal growth within the crawl space. He also found many damaged joists and inadequate supports within the crawl space. He also pointed out that the main girder of the home was damaged and needed to be repaired.
Our specialist recommended to the homeowner a mold treatment, new moisture barrier installation, repair to 24 joists and 20 feet of girder, and the installation of 20 custom-built floor supports.
The Deep South team arrived at Ms. Griffith’s house and removed the mold/fungus growth from the crawl space by treating it with a mold treatment and antimicrobial disinfectant. The highly concentrated antimicrobial disinfectant treats and cleans all surfaces within the crawl space.
Once the mold treatment was completed, the crew began addressing all the wood repairs. They cut and removed the 20 feet of damaged girder and replaced it with a new 2 X 10 girder, reattaching all joists to the new girder at completion. They then repaired the 24 damaged floor joists by removing and replacing all of the damaged joists and sistering any current joists that didn’t need a full replacement. Once all damaged wood was repaired, the crew installed 20 custom-built floor supports to support areas experiencing sagging and stabilize the structure from further settlement. Our custom-built floor supports are built on-site to the exact specifications of the placement of the support. They are installed on a footer to prevent the support from experiencing settlement.
Once we repaired all the woodwork and floor supports installed, the crew completed Ms. Griffiths’s job by installing a new moisture barrier in the crawl space to help prevent any future moisture issues.
