Problem: Signs of Moisture Damage and Structural Instability
Upon inspection, specialist Grant Crowden discovered a significant water intrusion problem in Mr. Becker’s crawl space. The high humidity levels had caused mold and fungus growth, leading to wood rot. Additionally, previous attempts to stabilize the foundation were inadequate; improperly spaced and low-quality supports were contributing to the interior cracks in Mr. Becker’s walls. The underlying issues posed a serious threat to the structural integrity of his home if left unchecked.
Solution: Comprehensive Water Mitigation and Structural Support
To address these problems, our crew, led by Austin Hood, began with a complete crawl space cleanout. They removed all debris and insulation, as insulation can trap moisture and contribute to mold and fungus growth in a damp crawl space environment. Following the cleanup, they treated the crawl space with a mold-killing solution to prevent any further spread of mold.
The next step involved installing a comprehensive water mitigation system. This system removes water from the soil and directs it away from the foundation. The crew installed two ¾ HP pumps and basins to effectively handle future water intrusion. This ensures incoming water is quickly removed, protecting the home’s foundation.
