Problem:
The customer called in with concerns regarding a gap between exterior windows and her fascia board on the rear of her home.
Upon the initial inspection, our specialist noted gaps between all exterior windows on the rear of the home, several gaps between the home and fascia boards in the same area, and stairstep cracks in the home's exterior brick—one gap measured at having 6 inches of separation from the house.
Our specialist recommended the homeowner install eight helical piers on the home's exterior. The installation of Helical Piers will stabilize the foundation and prevent further settlement at the installation site. The Helical Piers work by installing the pier under the current footer of the home and drilling in the piers until they reach weight-bearing soil called strata. Once the pier reaches strata, they are attached to a bracket bolted to the foundation, which then transfers the weight of the foundation.
