Identifying Termite Damage and Water Issues in Tuscumbia, AL Home:
After an inspection report revealed potential termite damage, Ms. Grove contacted us before closing on her new home. She was concerned about the property’s foundation. So, we were eager to provide an evaluation.
Upon a thorough crawl space inspection, Specialist Grant Crowden identified termite damage. The wood structures in the crawl space were deteriorated. Additionally, there were clear signs of previous water accumulation, mold, and fungal growth. Other areas of the home’s floors were sagging, which showed deeper structural issues.
Grant provided Ms. Grove with a detailed assessment and proposed targeted solutions to address these problems. We wanted to ensure her new home was safe and secure.
Comprehensive Termite Damage Repair and Crawl Space Waterproofing Solution:
Austin led his crew and provided Ms. Grove with a clean, healthy crawl space and a stabilized foundation. They started the process by performing a crawl space cleanup and mold treatment. Once this was completed, the crew removed and replaced all termite-damaged wood, including:
- 18 – Sister Joists
- 8 Feet of Girder Replacement
- 13 Feet of Triple Drop Beam
Once the termite wood was removed and the new wood was installed, the crew began stabilizing areas of the home by installing:
- 7 – Floor Supports
- 15 Feet of C-Channel
- Installed boxing around areas of plumbing, the fireplace, and under the bay window
Now that the home was stabilized, our crew began installing an interior waterproofing system that would allow any water intrusion into the crawl space to be pumped away from the home and foundation.
They then built a partition wall within the crawl space to block off the opening from the deck to the crawl space and ensure it was completely sealed off from the outside. Once this was completed, we installed a 125 MIL Encapsulation complete with a Sierra WatchDog NXT120c Dehumidifier to control the humidity levels within the crawl space to help prevent future mold and fungus growth.
