Our financing optionsThe customer contacted us after her pest control technician identified significant standing water and mold/fungal growth in her crawl space.
During the initial crawl space inspection, our technician observed multiple water intrusion indicators and fungal issues. There was visible water staining around the perimeter blocks, and evidence of standing water was still present. Additionally, the subfloor and joists showed signs of fungal growth, a common result of persistent high humidity and moisture in unsealed crawl spaces.
To address these crawl space moisture problems, mold treatment, an interior waterproofing system, and encapsulation were recommended. The waterproofing system would redirect water away from the home, while the encapsulation would seal the crawl space to reduce humidity and prevent mold growth.
The Deep South Construction Pros team arrived at Mrs. Couch’s Somerville, AL, home and began removing mold and fungal growth from the crawl space. We thoroughly disinfected all affected surfaces using a high-strength antimicrobial treatment to eliminate mold and prevent regrowth.
Next, our team installed a full interior waterproofing system, including Ez Flow piping around the crawl space perimeter and a 1 HP sump pump and basin to effectively remove ground and surface water.
After the waterproofing, we sealed the crawl space with a heavy-duty polyethylene barrier, fully encapsulating the floor, walls, and columns. We also sealed off crawl space vents to prevent humidity from re-entering the area. To finalize the system, we installed a dehumidifier to control humidity levels, ensuring the crawl space remains dry and mold-free in the future.
